I recommend that to make a decent investigation of cetacean languages or communication systems, one needs to be more open to the possibility that some cetaceans species may have equivalent and even more complex thought communication systems than ours, although different in certain properties. I wish you much success.

Thanks for your perspective! I'm open to that possibility, but until we have evidence it's difficult to claim one or the other. Thanks for the good thoughts!

I am not claiming one or the other, I am only pointing out that one must have an open mind about the possibility. If one doesn't then one may not follow the appropriate path. Btw, from personal experience I can say that for some reason it is very difficult to have a really open mind about the possibility that some cetaceans may communicate thoughts equivalent to ours or even more complex. It took me 3 years from 1975 to 1978 to eventually accept it, and it happened in a few hours after I agreed to accept it, even if I was open to the possibility during those 3 years. I had a few very close encounters with dolphins and a minke during those 3 years and I had worked with 2 of the very few people who had tried two-way communication with dolphins. After I accepted the evidence of what I had witnessed during those 3 years, I had a cathartic event where most of my world view was deleted very quickly and replaced with a new and much smaller one, and this was somewhat frightening. When I accepted it, for a few hours, I had the two world views in my mind, and I had to choose which one I wanted, the old confortable one or the new one which was very small still being formed. I chose the one where cetaceans could very well exchange complex thought even if we do not have definite evidence. None of my friends chose this. I know very few people who have. Many discuss the possibilities but very few actually have the world view that allows it. This is kind of a heads up. Let me know if you made the jump already, and if not, then let me know when you do it. You will know it when you do.
